Final Reflection

Looking back over the semester, I feel I have become more attached to mathematics as a subject area. My original area of study was economics, so I only had minimal exposure to many of the math concepts prior to entering the program. Thankfully, the puzzles we have done in class and the various readings have helped to reinvigorate and refine my mathematical understanding.

The most memorable part of the term has to be attending the math fair at Point Grey Academy, and I was impressed by those students and their imaginations. I also enjoyed working on the math art project, which was my first school project in over five years. The microteaching activity was particularly interesting, as I was able to both observe and reflect on my own teaching style, and I had lots of fun doing it.

The class allowed me to discover myself as both a prospective math teacher and a role model for students in the future. I hope that someday my students will write letters - just like the class exercise - so that I know I have become an inspirational figure for them.
